Hood River Library Book Club

The Hood River County Library’s official book club welcomes author Eileen Garvin on October 11 to discuss her best-selling novel The Music of Bees.

Discussion groups are held monthly, and all are welcome to attend. Books are chosen month-to-month. To find the next read and all of our previous reads, visit the website.

Meetings are hybrid, so folks are welcome both in-person and online.

Owensboro Community & Technical College Common Reading

OCTC welcomes author Eileen Garvin for an in-person lecture as part of the Spring 2023 Common Reading program.

Each semester a book is selected as OCTCs Common Reading, with the idea that all participants could read the same material and have common ground for new discussions and mutual interests. While the book choices vary in many ways (different genres, time-periods, subject matters) they are chosen with the intention of expanding the knowledge and perspectives of readers.

Fort Vancouver Regional Libraries has chosen The Music of Bees for Skamania County Reads 2022.

An author visit from Eileen Garvin on May 26 will cap off a series of events in May.

A travel writer and memoirist whose work has appeared in Psychology Today, The Oregonian, and other outlets, Garvin’s writing about the subtle healing of beekeeping is magical and will appeal to readers who loved Delia Owens’ lush nature writing in Where the Crawdads Sing.

Dust off your fine china and polish the silver! The History Museum's tea party is back for its fifth year! Once again, we're going virtual. Revel in exquisite savories and sweets and sip quality tea from the comfort of your own home. Our guest of honor is local author Eileen Garvin. She published her first novel, The Music of Bees, last year. As a freelance writer, Garvin has written about travel, recreation, conservation, and small businesses. Her essays have appeared with Medium, The Oregonian, PsychologyToday.com, and Creative Non-Fiction Magazine. 

Proceeds support the museum's mission to celebrate and preserve the unique history of Hood River County and the mid-Columbia River region.
